ASTRO SETS A NEW RECORD FOR

Kuala Lumpur, 30 October 2018Theglorious festival of lights is always paired with colourful decorations,including intricate Kolams. In conjunction with Deepavali celebrations thisyear, Astro Seithigal has broken the record of thelargest Kolam made in Malaysia and received the record for the “BiggestPortrait Art Made of Multi Colored Grains” from the Malaysia Book ofRecords.  A representative from MalaysiaBook of Records presented the award certificate to Dr. Rajamani Chellamuthu,Senior Vice President, Indian Customer Business, Astro.

This design of this record-breakingkolam features a lady holding a lit Indian oil lamp and will be on display toeveryone at IOI City Mall, Putrajayafrom 29 October till 2 November. Thiswork of art measures 1600 square feetand took 10 hours to complete by atotal of 20 people, a mix of volunteersand the Astro Seithigal team.

Dr. Rajamani Chellamuthu, Senior Vice President,Indian Customer Business, Astro,said, “Congratulations to all the volunteersand the Astro Seithigal team who made this vast and beautiful kolam, making itinto the Malaysia Book of Records. This achievement would not have been madepossible without their dedication and hard work. The design of the kolam issymbolic to the true meaning of Deepavali as it represents our inner light thatprotects from spiritual darkness and we invite everyone to view the kolam whileit is on display.”

At the same event today, Astroannounced the upcoming release of a 1-hour documentary on Tun Dr MahathirMohamad titled “MAHA Sarithiram”.This documentary will feature the life of our current Prime Minister and hisjourney as a family man and politician, which culminates with his determinationin winning the elections to make a comeback as Malaysia’s 7th PrimeMinister.  “MAHA Sarithiram” will be produced in Tamil and dubbed into threelanguages, Malay, English and Chinese, and will premiere on Astro in January2019.
