A: AOD is a service offering premium content via a Near Video On-Demand platform.

Q2: What is Near Video On-Demand (NVOD)?
A: NVOD is a transmission format which allows customers to access archive channels that has staggered start times for an individual episode which has premiered. AOD's archive channel consists of one to four episodes of dramas. Each title will be kept for one week after its premiere date.

Note that the number of episodes per archive channel may change at Astro's discretion.

Q3: What is Astro On Demand (AOD) drama?
A: AOD drama is Astro's premium service featuring latest Hong Kong drama series mostly from TVB. The TVB drama series feature will premiere on the same day with Hong Kong.

Q4: How can I get access to Astro On Demand (AOD) service?
A: Customers are able to access AOD service by either subscribing to the AOD Dragon pack or by ordering individual title series. Kindly refer to the next sections for further details.

Q5: How is Astro On Demand (AOD) dramas different from Wah Lai Toi (WLT) dramas?
A: WLT drama series follow a different scheduling and release pattern.

All AOD dramas will be repeated on the archive channels for one week from the broadcast of the final episode. This allows viewers to have the opportunity to watch or catch-up episodes at their own convenience during that time.

Q6: What does it mean to watch dramas on the same day with Hong Kong?
A: Most TVB dramas featured on AOD are released on the same day as its broadcast in Hong Kong. The new episodes of each title are usually released on weekdays at 8:30pm and 9.30pm respectively. Visit www.astro.com.my for details of the updated schedules.

Q7: How do I subscribe to Astro On Demand (AOD) service either by subscribing to the AOD Dragon Pack or subscribing by individual title?
A: There are three (3) ways:

Q8: How do I know if I have successfully subscribed to the Astro On Demand (AOD) Service?
A: After you have ordered, please leave your decoder on stand-by mode to receive the service upload. Your service should be available within 24 hours after ordering. You will be able to watch AOD dramas from Channel 901 onwards. When the words "OK to watch" appear, press 'OK' on your remote and the drama series will appear.

You are not required to install any new equipment to your decoder. A subscriber's existing decoder, remote control and active smartcard are all that is necessary. Please call 1300 82 8888 or 03 - 9543 3838 if you are unable to view the drama series.

Q4: Upon subscribing to Astro On Demand (AOD) Dragon Pack, I am only interested in 1 drama title in that package, can I just pay for that drama title and not the full package price?
A: No. Subscription to the AOD Dragon Pack is by full package basis.

Q5: How is the Astro On Demand (AOD) Dragon Pack billed and when is it effective?
A: Customers can subscribe to this package anytime and the subscription fees will be pro-rated according to the customers' billing cycle. AOD Dragon Pack subscription fees will be reflected in your next Astro bill.

Q6: Once I have subscribed to Astro On Demand (AOD) Dragon Pack, do I have to call up Astro to reactivate my subscription on a monthly basis?
A: No. Renewal is automatic every month.

Q7: Why should I subscribe to Astro On Demand Dragon Pack?
A: Besides having unlimited access to all featured dramas on the AOD service, you will be enjoying more savings as compared to ordering per title basis. AOD Dragon Pack customers will also be able to enjoy exclusive live programmes, variety programmes and special on-ground events, when available, at no extra cost.

For example in February 2011, Dragon Pack customers will be able to enjoy the Best of TVB Anniversary Gala Show 2001-2010 and Yan Chai Charity Show 2011 at no extra cost. Frequently Asked Questions for Series Link

  1. What is Series Link?
    Series Link is a new function available for customers who have signed up for Astro's recording services. The Series Link function enables you to record entire series without having to record each programme individually.
    Once Series Link is activated, you will be able to see an icon which looks like a 2 headed arrow next to the programme description " <—> " This indicates that the programme has been linked and future episodes will be recorded.
  2. How is it different from normal recording?
    Normal recording only allows you to schedule your programme recording up to 7 days ahead; while Series Linking enables you to record the entire series without having to select each episode individually.
  3. How do I use the Series Link function?
    • Press the HOME button on your remote
    • Select TV GUIDE
    • Select your desired programme series and press the "R" button on your remote to record. You will see a red "R" indicated next to the programme info.
    • Press the "R" button on your remote again to activate Series Link. The red "R" will turn into a Red 2 headed arrow icon " <—> " indicating that the series has been linked.
    • Press the blue "b" button on your remote to exit.
    OR

    Highlight the programme to be recorded from the TV Guide or the Banner then press the "R" button once to record that show, press the "R" button again to record the series. (or press the "R" button twice to launch series link.)

    Play the recording via the Planner on the main menu.

    Note that if you start a recording in the middle of the programme, only the remaining of the programme will be recorded.
  4. How do I know series link has been activated?

  5. Do I have to pay for the Series Link function? / Are there any charges for the Series Link function?
    No. This new function is at no additional cost to you if you are a PVR customer.

    Conflict recording happens when you are trying to record more than two programmes at the same time. You will be prompted on screen when you try to record. You will have an option to make your choice of recording.

  7. Can my manual recording override series link?
    Yes it can. Manual programming of recording will take precedence over series link series.
  8. What happens if I choose to opt for another program instead of a current episode under series link at the same time?
    • Has the series link episode started? If yes, then the episode of the series link will be partially recorded. It will NOT re-schedule for a repeat of that episode under the series link
    • If it's no, you can opt for another program to be recorded and the episode under the series link will search for another repeat time, if any.
  9. How do I remove the Series Link function for my programme?
    • Press the HOME button on your remote
    • Select PLANNER from your screen
    • Under the ALL SERIES tab, choose the programme you want to cancel
    • Press the Red button on your remote
    • You have an option "Delete All" or "Retain All". Press the left or right buttons on your remote to select your option.
      Note: "Delete All" means you will be deleting all the recorded and future episodes. "Retain All" means that you are canceling future series link recording but retaining your recorded episodes.
    • You have succeeded when the 2 headed arrow icon " <—> " disappears.
    • Press the blue "b" button on your remote to exit.
  10. Can my decoder Series Link my programmes when my disc is full. Yes. Once series link is activated, your programmes will go on recording; but it is set to the auto delete settings which is the default setting. This means that the earlier programmes will be deleted following the concept of first in, first out.

    Note:
    You have an option to set it to "Manual" delete if you wish to manually select the programmes to be deleted.
    • Select the "Home" button on your remote
    • Select "Settings"
    • Select "Your Settings"
    • Select "PVR Settings"
    • Press "OK" on your remote
    • On "Disc Space Mode", select option of "Warning", "Manual" or "Auto" deletion using the right and left buttons on you remote
    • Press the blue "b" button on your remote to exit.
  11. If I cancel Astro On Demand Dragon Pack, will I still be able to series link other programmes?
    Yes. This function is available to you if you are PVR customer.
