1.0 Introduction to NJOI & NJOI Prepaid

  • 1.1 What is Njoi?

    Launched in December 2011, NJOI is Malaysia’s first subscription-free satellite TV service. NJOI gives customers in Malaysia immediate access to 42 TV and radio channels, comprising lifelong learning, information and entertainment programmes for a one-time payment, with no monthly subscription required.

    DMT Boxes

    NJOI is available for a one-time payment of RM328 at any authorised NJOI retailer. An additional RM100 standard installation fee applies.

    Customer will be provided with the following:
    a) 1 NJOI DMT Decoder
    b) 1 Remote Control Unit
    c) 1 Outdoor satellite dish
    d) 1 Smart Card
    e) RM40 worth of access to prepaid content **
    **Get RM40 worth of access to selected Premium Channels for 30 days
    **Access to Premium Channels will be activated within 48 hours of NJOI account activation

    Refurbished DMT Boxes

    NJOI is also available for a one-time payment of RM228 at any authorised NJOI retailer. An additional RM100 standard installation fee applies.

  • 1.2 What is NJOI Prepaid?

    NJOI Prepaid is Malaysia’s FIRST prepaid satellite television service. It is a pay-as-you watch service and is now available to all NJOI customers nationwide. With NJOI Prepaid, NJOI customers have the option to access additional content on top of the existing 42 TV and radio channels, in accordance with their viewing needs and budgets.

  • 1.3 How many channels are currently available on NJOI? (excluding NJOI Prepaid channels)

    NJOI gives customers in Malaysia access to 22 TV and 20 radio channels, comprising lifelong learning, information and entertainment programmes for a one-time payment, with no monthly subscription required. They are as follows:

  • 1.4 Why is NJOI no longer available at a price of RM308 (for DMT box) and RM180 (for refurbished DMT box)?

    The pricing of NJOI at RM308 for a DMT box and RM180 for a refurbished DMT box was made available only for an introductory offer during the launch. As of 31st January 2014, NJOI will be sold at RM328 for a DMT box and RM228 for a refurbished DMT box. See Question 1.1 for further pricing details.

  • 1.5 If I have subscribed NJOI at the old price and now would like to add 1 more Njoi in my house, can I subscribe to NJOI at the old price?

    We are sorry to say that you will need to subscribe to NJOI with the current price of RM328 for a DMT box and RM228 for a refurbished DMT box.

  • 1.6 With the new price, would I still be able to receive the RM 40 premium prepaid channels?

    Yes, you will still be receiving RM 40 premium prepaid channels for 30 days upon successful installation and account activation. In striving to achieve efficiency, we have taken it upon ourselves to activate selected prepaid channels on our customers’ behalves once their accounts have been activated.

  • 1.7 Are you adding new content and channels to justify the price increase?

    We currently do not have new channels added to NJOI however we are bringing in the best of local and international dramas, movies, education programs and more for you.

  • 1.8 Is this a new NJOI box type or are there new features added to the box and thus the price increase?

    The box type and features remain the same. The initial NJOI price was an introductory offer for for a limited period of time only. Since the introductory promotional price has ended, Njoi will be now available at the respective new prices.

  • 1.9 When is the cut-off date for me to purchase the Njoi box at the old price of RM308 (for DMT box) and RM180 (for refurbished DMT box)?

    The cut-off date to purchase Njoi decoder box at the old price is on 30th January 2014 (RM308 for DMT box) and (RM180 for refurbished DMT box). From 31st January 2014 onwards, the price of Njoi decoder boxes will be at RM328 (DMT box) and RM228 (Refurbished DMT box).

  • 1.10 If I place an order on 30th January 2014 but my customer/s decoder box is only installed after 30th January 2014, what will be the price I would charge my customer/s?

    You will charge your customer/s the old decoder price of RM308 (for DMT box) and RM180 (for refurbished DMT box) for any orders placed by 30th January 2014 although the customers only get their decoder box installed after the 30th January 2014. The same applies for order places from 31st January 2014 onwards.

2.0 NJOI Prepaid

  • 2.1 What are the channels currently available under the new NJOI Prepaid Phase 2?

    NJOI Prepaid introduces more choices with a la carte options based on channels rather than packs. This allows greater flexibility for customers to select their preferred channels. A total of 12 channels are currently available.

  • 2.2 Under Phase 2, can I purchase my preferred channels from the Phase 1 prepaid packages individually (a la carte)?

    Some of the channels from the Phase 1 prepaid packages (AVAILABLE BEFORE MAY 2013) have been made available on an a la carte basis under Phase 2. These are Astro Citra, Astro Warna, Astro Bella (originally from the Mustika Pek), Celestial Movies, TVB Xing He, Astro Shuang Xin (originally from the Chinese Movies and Drama Pek), and Astro Arena and Astro SuperSport (originally from the Sports Pek).

  • 2.3 Are there any Indian-content channels currently available for NJOI Prepaid customers?

    NJOI is pleased to announce that Astro Box Office Movies Thangathirai is available for your purchase at RM10 for 1 month. We will make the necessary announcements should there be any new Indian-content prepaid channels made available

  • 2.4 Are there any prepaid channels or prepaid packages that offer sports coverage and content to NJOI Prepaid customers?

    Yes, currently we have a Sports Pack consisting of Astro Arena & Astro SuperSport 4 broadcasting major local and international sporting events. You can enjoy the Sports Pack at a price of RM3 for 2 days.

  • 2.5 Is Astro Ceria going to be on NJOI Prepaid for a limited time only?

    Astro Ceria will be launched on NJOI Prepaid to coincide with the year-end school holidays. It will be available for purchase from 6th December 2013 onwards. Due to the overwhelming response, the management has decided to extend the availability of Astro Ceria on NJOI Prepaid.

  • 2.6 If I still have viewing time available for Astro Ceria, can I purchase either Astro Ceria or a different channel, or do I have to wait until my viewing time has finished?

    No, you do not have to wait until your viewing time has finished in order to purchase Astro Ceria again. If you purchase Astro Ceria midway during your viewing time, the start date for the viewing period will continue from the end date of your previous purchase for that channel. In other words, you will not lose any viewing time. Should you purchase a different channel, both Astro Ceria and the other channel will be viewable simultaneously.

  • 2.7 When is the extended validity period for Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channels being introduced?

    NJOI is proud to announce that, in line with making our Prepaid services more convenient and flexible for our customers, we are introducing a 30-day validity period for Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channels beginning 27th December 2013 and 26th February 2014 respectively. NJOI will charge a flat rate of RM20 for 30 days validity for each Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channel. Thus, from this date, customers will have the choice and flexibility to choose between the 2-day or 30-day channel offering for our Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channels.

  • 2.8 Is the 2 days validity for the Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channels still available for purchase?

    Yes, the validity period of 2 days for the Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channels can still be purchased at the same price of RM2 or RM3 (depending on the channel). (Please refer to the table from 2.1)

  • 2.9 Will any of the other NJOI Prepaid channels (eg. sports) be made available as 30-day channels?

    We currently have Chinese & Malay NJOI Prepaid channels made available as both 2-day and 30-day channels. We will explore the possibility of making other NJOI Prepaid channels available for 30-day validity periods as well. If there are any changes, we will make the necessary announcements to our customers

3.0 Step-by-Step Guide to NJOI Prepaid

  • 3.1 Who is NJOI Prepaid made available to?

    NJOI Prepaid is a pay-as-you watch service available to all NJOI customers who own a set-top box (DMT or RDMT), Out-Door Unit (ODU) satellite dish, smartcard and remote control unit.

  • 3.2 Where can I purchase NJOI Prepaid vouchers?

    You can purchase NJOI Prepaid vouchers at any authorised NJOI dealer, Astro/NJOI retailer or Astro Outlet (Customer Service Centre) nationwide. See www.njoi.com.my for a complete list.

  • 3.3 How can I activate my NJOI Prepaid voucher / monetary token and what are the steps required?

    Type: 111 <space> NJOI Account Holder IC Number <space> 16 Digit Pin Code and SMS to 33310.

  • 3.4 Once I have purchased a prepaid channel, what is the duration of the viewing period?

    Once you have purchased a prepaid channel, you will have access to it for a fixed duration. Please refer to the table below for channel viewing durations.

  • 3.5 Do the NJOI Prepaid vouchers have expiry dates?

    The expiry date will be shown on each NJOI Prepaid voucher. Customers are advised to check and activate their 16-digit pin code number before each NJOI Prepaid voucher expires.

  • 3.6 Will I still be able to top up my prepaid account using an expired NJOI Prepaid voucher?

    You will be unable to top up your prepaid account using an expired NJOI Prepaid voucher. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you top up your prepaid account by activating the 16-digit pin code numbers on your NJOI Prepaid vouchers before they expire.

  • 3.7 Does the credit in my prepaid account have an expiry date?

    No, the credit in your prepaid account does not have an expiry date. Once you top up your NJOI prepaid account using NJOI Prepaid vouchers, the credit will remain available in your prepaid account until you choose to spend it. We will make the necessary announcements if an expiry date is introduced for the credit in your prepaid account.

  • 3.8 If I still have existing credit in my prepaid account, can I activate another NJOI Prepaid voucher to top it up?

    Yes, you may do so. The credit will be added to the existing balance in your prepaid account.

  • 3.9 If I still have viewing time available for a certain channel, can I purchase either the same channel or a different channel?

    Yes, you may do so. If you purchase the same channel, the start date for the viewing period will continue from the end date of your previous purchase for that channel. In other words, you will not lose any viewing time. Should you purchase a different channel, both channels will be viewable simultaneously.

  • 3.10 Why does it take longer for me to activate my NJOI Prepaid vouchers after midnight?

    Please be informed that there is a one (1) hour system maintenance conducted between 12.45am – 1.45am daily. Your request will be logged in and processed immediately once the system maintenance has been completed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  • 3.11 Are there any other denominations for NJOI Prepaid vouchers besides RM20?

    Currently, the vouchers come in RM5, RM10 and RM20 denominations. You can purchase vouchers in any of these denominations and top up your prepaid account to purchase your favorite channels. Should any new denominations be made available, we will make the necessary announcements.

  • 3.12 I have just had NJOI installed - why am I not able to view the RM40 worth of Premium prepaid channels as mentioned in the NJOI Bundle?

    In striving to achieve efficiency, we have taken it upon ourselves to activate selected prepaid channels on our customers’ behalves once their accounts have been activated. These channels are EITHER Astro Bella, Astro Citra and Astro Ria OR TVB Xing He, Astro Shuang Xing and Celestial Movies. As part of the NJOI Bundle promotion, customers may enjoy 30 days of this premium content (worth RM40) upon successful installation and account activation. If you are still unable to view the Premium prepaid channels 48 hours after installation, kindly contact us at 03-9543 8100 (8am - 12 midnight).

  • 3.13 How can get I get more information on NJOI Prepaid up-coming highlights and promotions?

    We are happy to announce that you can go to NJOI Service Portal on Channel 200 to obtain monthly content highlights and promotions.

  • 3.14 Other than purchasing using the channel codes, are there other ways I can purchase the channel/s?

    Yes, you can purchase your channel/s from NJOI Service Portal, Channel 200 with the launch of the 16 digit dynamic code from 27th December 2013 onwards. Just go to ‘How to Order’ menu. Purchase orders will still be made through SMS and standard telco charges apply.

  • 3.15 Where else can I obtain information on where to purchase my NJOI Prepaid vouchers from?

    You can go to NJOI Service Portal on Channel 200 to check out for the nearest dealer to you to purchase the NJOI Prepaid vouchers. You can check out www.njoi.com.my for a complete list.

  • 3.16 I do not know what the different NJOI Prepaid channels are offering. How can I find out what the channels available are offering?

    You can now obtain information about the NJOI Prepaid channels from NJOI Service Portal on Channel 200.

4.0 Technical Issues related to NJOI Prepaid

  • 4.1 What is the NJOI customer service contact number?

  • 4.2 After activating my prepaid voucher/topping up my NJOI prepaid account, I experienced technical issues with my NJOI decoder. What should I do? Will you extend my viewing duration?

    Please contact our customer service center at 03-9543 8100 (8am - 12 midnight) and we will do our utmost to identify and resolve the problem.

  • 4.3 What happens if I lose my NJOI Prepaid voucher or if it was stolen? Can I get a replacement?

    We regret to inform you that we are unable to provide any replacement for lost or stolen NJOI Prepaid vouchers. NJOI customers are responsible for the safekeeping of all purchased NJOI Prepaid vouchers. You can purchase a new prepaid voucher at any authorised NJOI dealer or Astro/NJOI retailer nationwide.   • 4.4 I am unable to activate my NJOI Prepaid voucher. What should I do?

    Please contact our customer service center at 03-9543 8100 (8am -12 midnight) and we will try our utmost to identify and resolve the problem. Should your NJOI Prepaid voucher be faulty, we will replace it with a new one for free.

  • 5.3 Will there be any new channels added to NJOI (ntv7, 8TV etc.) in the future? If so, when?

    We are pleased to inform you that we now have all the Media Prima channels (TV3, TV9, 8TV & NTV7) available for free on NJOI. We are continuously striving to bring you the best in satellite TV entertainment and we are collaborating with our business partners to provide you with more free and premium channels in the future.

6.0 Eligibility of Astro Customers

  • 6.1 If I am an Astro customer, am I able to enjoy the prepaid NJOI services on my Astro decoder?

    Unfortunately, NJOI Prepaid is only available to NJOI customers.

  • 6.2 Why is NJOI Prepaid only available to NJOI customers and not to Astro customers as well?

    We understand the need to offer a variety of services to meet the diverse needs and wants of our customers. With NJOI and NJOI Prepaid, customers can enjoy subscription-free satellite TV as well as pay-as-you watch services at an affordable price with no recurring subscription fees or contractual obligations. On the other hand, Astro customers can experience the latest premium services including PVR, HD, 3D, as well as Astro On-the-Go.

7.0 Business

  • What have the take-up rates been like for NJOI since its launch and introduction?

    Since its initial launch, the take-up rates for NJOI have been very positive and encouraging. With the launch of NJOI Prepaid, we expect these numbers to grow further.

  • 7.2 What is your sales target for NJOI Prepaid?

    TIt is too early for us to comment at this point in time, as we have just launched NJOI Prepaid. From market research we believe there is a demand for the prepaid service among existing NJOI customers as well as among the greater population. We believe NJOI Prepaid will complement and further boost up the overall NJOI take-up rates.

  • 7.3 Have the rights for the new prepaid channels been cleared for free to air?

    Yes, all the content rights for the new prepaid channels have been cleared for broadcast on NJOI services.

  • 7.4 Is NJOI / NJOI Prepaid a strategy from Astro to counter ABN and other competitors including FTA?

    No. NJOI and NJOI Prepaid are part of our strategic roadmap to create value for our customers, while at the same time sustaining growth. NJOI was created to fulfill our aspiration to provide all Malaysians with easier access to Education, Information and Knowledge, in line with the national agenda. With the introduction of NJOI Prepaid, NJOI customers now have the option to access additional new channels in accordance with their viewing and budget needs.

  • 7.5 Who is the target audience for NJOI Prepaid?

    NJOI Prepaid is available to all existing NJOI customers. While everyone is welcome to purchase NJOI and NJOI Prepaid services, we will continue to strategically target those who aspire to consume Astro products but are unable to do so for budgetary reasons.

  • 7.6 How does NJOI & NJOI Prepaid fit into Astro’s overall Pay-TV business?

    NJOI complements the existing Astro business as it targets a different customer segment – one that is willing to make a one-off payment to enjoy free satellite TV, but does not want to be tied down with monthly subscriptions. With the launch of NJOI Prepaid, NJOI customers will now have more options to suit their viewing needs and budgets. NJOI services including NJOI Prepaid are part of Astro’s strategic roadmap to grow our business sustainably.

  • 8.1 What is Astro First?

    Astro First is a service that brings the latest local cinema titles to Prepaid NJOI customers, as early as 2 weeks after their cinema premiere dates in Malaysia. Just follow the simple instructions on the Astro First Movie Portal (NJOI Channel 480) to purchase local cinema titles via SMS - now everyone can enjoy the cinema experience at home!

  • 8.2 What are the benefits of Astro First?

    The 3 key consumer benefits of Astro First are:-
      a. Quick access to the latest Asian and local blockbuster movie titles
        • As early as TWO WEEKS after the Malaysian cinema premiere
      b. Convenience
        • Easy-to-use SMS purchasing service – no need to queue up in the cinema for your tickets
        • Watch Astro First movies in the comfort of YOUR OWN HOME with your family and friends
        • There are 12 different viewing times per day for each movie. Watch Astro First movies WHENEVER you like, AS MANY TIMES as you like over a 48-hour period
      c. Value for money
        • Instead of paying between RM40 to RM60 for a family of 4 at the cinemas, you can watch the newest releases for ONLY RM15 per movie on Astro First

  • 8.3 What equipment do I need to enjoy Astro First?

    Astro First is available to all NJOI customers with NJOI decoders, including refurbished decoders, DMT4 and Zapper decoders.

  • 8.4 How can I access the Astro First Movie Portal / services?

    The NJOI Astro First Movie Portal is available on NJOI Channel 480.

  • 8.5 Do I have a limited timeframe to watch the movie I purchased?

    Yes, each movie is valid for 48 hours from the time of purchase. Over that period, you may watch your purchased movie as many times as you like. There will be no refund if you do not watch the movie within the 48-hour timeframe.

  • Astro First Content

  • 8.6 How many titles will be available for selection on Astro First?

    The number of movies available on Astro First will depend on the number of local cinema premieres in Malaysia.

  • 8.7 Will the content on Astro First be the same every month?

    New content will be added to the Astro First Movie Portal as and when movies are made available from the cinemas.

  • 8.8 How long are the titles available for purchase on Astro First?

    Each movie will be available for purchase on Astro First for at least 4 weeks. New movies will be released on Astro First from time to time (usually on Thursdays).

  • 8.9 How often are the titles refreshed?

    The titles are refreshed on a monthly basis.

  • 8.10 Does Astro First offer Hollywood titles as well?

    Astro First is a platform dedicated to promoting locally-produced content to a wider Malaysian audience, with the aim of spurring growth in the local film industry. For a channel dedicated to offering Hollywood and other regional titles as soon as 3 months after their cinema releases, see Astro Best (ch 481).

  • 8.11 . How different are the movies on Astro First from those on Astro’s other movie channels, such as HBO, Cinemax, Fox Movies Premium etc.?

    Astro First is dedicated to offering the latest local cinema titles to its customers. These will not be available on Astro’s other movie channels.

  • 8.12 How is Astro First different from ABOM/Tayangan Hebat?

      a. Astro First is a service that brings the latest local cinema titles to its customers, as early as 2 weeks after their cinema premiere dates in Malaysia.
      b. Astro First offers customers the choice to purchase their preferred movie titles individually while ABOM is a monthly subscription service entitling customers to watch all the movies offered in a given month.
      c. Astro First offers customers a near video-on-demand service with the availability of content within 5 minutes of its purchase and the convenience of choosing their preferred show timing (with multiple scheduled show timings available over a 48-hour period).

  • 8.13 Where can I find detailed information / synopsis on the titles?

    Each title’s detailed information and synopsis will be provided on the Astro First Movie Portal.

  • 8.14 Can I browse for Astro First titles on the Movie Portal?

    Yes. You can scroll through the Movie Portal by pressing the left and right buttons on the remote control.

  • 8.15 Can I see which Astro First titles are coming soon on the Movie Portal?

    Yes. There will be movie posters of upcoming titles on the Movie Portal on Channel 480.

  • How to Purchase Astro First

  • 8.16 How do I subscribe to Astro First?

    Astro First is available to all NJOI customers via Astro Channel 480. Each movie is available for purchase at RM15 each. No monthly subscription fee is necessary.

  • 8.17 How do I purchase a movie on Astro First?

    You can purchase a movie on the Astro First Movie Portal by following these steps:
      • Tune in to Astro First Movie Portal on Channel 480 – browse the movie listings and press the blue button on the Astro remote to order the movie of your choice.
      • Press the blue button again to confirm your order.
      • Follow the next steps on the screen to buy via SMS.

  • 8.18 How much will it cost me to send an SMS to 32999?

    Your standard telco rates per SMS apply.

  • 8.19 How long after I SMS my code can I begin watching the movie?

    You can begin watching the movie within 5 minutes of receiving your SMS confirmation.

  • 8.20 Can I purchase my movie by calling the Customer Careline?

    Each movie can be purchased via SMS only.

  • 8.21 Is there a limit to the number of movies that I can purchase?

    No, you have the option of purchasing as many movies as you wish. Each movie is valid for 48 hours from the time of purchase.
