Dynasty Pack Upgrade
Astro B.yond’s Dynasty Pack customers will be able to enjoy the added bonus of premium TVB dramas on Astro on Demand (AOD) channels at no additional cost from 11th July 2014 onwards. There is no change to the monthly fee of RM81.95 for the Dynasty Pack.
Dynasty Pack customers, currently on the old set-top-boxes are required to upgrade to an Astro B.yond box in order to enjoy AOD channels. Please go to Astro Service Portal on Channel 200, call 1300 82 3838 or visit www.astro.com.my/shop for upgrades.
1.1 When will AOD be available for Dynasty Pack customers at no additional cost?
On 11 July 2014. Please note that AOD will only be available for all Dynasty Pack customers on Astro B.yond.
1.2 Currently what are the channels available on AOD / Dragon Pack?
Currently AOD / Dragon Pack consist of;
1. AOD Channel 351 (first run), Channel 352 – 354 (archive)
2. AOD Channel 361 (first run), Channel 362 – 364 (archive)
3. AOD HD Channel 350 (first run and catch up in HD) that is tagged to HD service
1.3 Who will get to watch AOD at no additional cost?
All Dynasty Pack customers on Astro B.yond platform.
1.4 How much is the upgraded Dynasty Pack?
The monthly subscription fee for Dynasty Pack that includes AOD remains unchanged at RM81.95, subject to 6% government tax.
1.5 What are the channels available within the current and the upgraded Dynasty Pack?
Currently Dynasty Pack consists of following channels;
- Ch 311: Astro Wah Lai Toi
- Ch 312: Phoenix Chinese Channel
- Ch 313: TVB Entertainment News
- Ch 314: TVB Xing He
- Ch 317: TVBS Asia
- Ch 324: Astro Shuang Xing
- Ch 398: NHK World
- Ch 310: Astro Zhi Zun HD (tagged to HD service)
With AOD adding into the current Dynasty Pack channel line-up, customers can also enjoy first run TVB dramas through additional AOD channels (refer to 1.2).
1.6 Will AOD / Dragon Pack still be available for purchase on an a la carte basis?
Yes, AOD will still be available for a la carte purchase for non-Dynasty Pack customers at an additional monthly fee of RM54.95.
1.7 Where can I purchase or sign-up to the upgraded Dynasty Pack?
Both new and existing Astro customers can subscribe to the upgraded Dynasty Pack with our authorized Astro dealers. Alternatively, you can tune to Astro Service Portal on Channel 200, contact Astro’s customer service center at 1300 82 3838, or visit www.astro.com.my/shop.
2.0 For Existing Dynasty Pack customers
2.1 Where can I watch AOD drama from 11th July onwards?
From 11th July onwards, you can watch 1st line drama at 8.30pm on AOD Channel 351, and 2nd line drama at 9.30pm on AOD Channel 361 on weekdays. If you are also subscribing to HD service, you may watch current episodes on AOD HD (Ch 350). All episodes are also available for catch up on archive channels (Ch 352+ and 362+).
2.2 Will I get to enjoy AOD at no additional cost too, if I’m currently subscribing to both Dynasty Pack and Dragon Pack?
Yes, you will enjoy AOD at no additional cost like other Dynasty Pack customers do. Your monthly subscription fee will be revised in the next billing cycle.
2.3 Will I be able to watch the AOD HD (Ch 350)?
You will be entitled to watch AOD HD if you are also subscribing to the HD service.
2.4 What is the duration of the promotion of bundling AOD with Dynasty Pack?
As we have just launched this campaign, it is too early to know the response. We will provide sufficient notice to our customers when the time comes.
2.5 I’m currently using the old box. Do I get to watch AOD?
From 1st July 2014, AOD will only be available for customers on B.yond box.
Customers on legacy box with AOD
You are required to upgrade your legacy box to the new B.yond box to in order to watch AOD without any viewing disruption.
Customers on legacy box with no AOD
You are encouraged to upgrade your legacy box to the new B.yond box in order to enjoy AOD at no additional cost, like other Dynasty Pack customers do.
2.6 How much do I need to pay for box swap if I want to upgrade onto B.yond platform?
Customers on legacy box with AOD
You can swap for PVR box for free; however the monthly fee of RM10 for PVR service will occur.
Customers on legacy box with no AOD
You have a choice to upgrade to HD/PVR box with a one-off RM50 charge, in addition to the monthly fee of RM20 for HD and RM10 for PVR.
Alternatively, you may consider signing up Super Pack 3 that offers you a greater variety of content and convenience at a flat rate of RM155, including both HD and PVR service.
The box swap is FOC if you do not take up additional service or packages at this point of time.
2.7 I have no intention to upgrade or sign up for HD/PVR service, can I still watch AOD?
As mentioned, from 1st July 2014, AOD will only be available for customers on B.yond box. If you are subscribing to AOD / Dragon Pack but still using the old box, you are advised to swap your box as soon as possible so that you can continue enjoying AOD.
2.8 Can Astro offer a swap to a B.yond box without the PVR?
Our B.yond STBs come in non PVR and PVR service.
2.9 If I have multiple Astro accounts under my name, how will I be charged for Dynasty Packs?
Scenario 1 (Dynasty and AOD customers with ARPU RM139.95 or higher)
Your Astro multi-room fee will remain unchanged at the flat fee of RM50.
Scenario 2 (Dynasty and AOD customers with ARPU below RM139.95)
As your pack subscription will not be sufficient to enjoy the flat fee of RM50, you can either select an alternative package to boost your ARPU above RM100 with no pack switching fee, or you can still enjoy 50% off your multi-room subscription with a lower ARPU.

2.10 Can I watch AOD on Astro On the Go (AOTG)?
If you are subscribing to AOTG, you will be entitled to watch AOD on AOTG at no additional cost as well.
3.0 For non-Dynasty Pack customers
3.1 I have dropped my Dynasty Pack previously, but now I would like to continue the subscription. Will I be entitled to get AOD at no additional cost?
3.2 I’m subscribing to Wah Pack (Value Pack). Do I get to watch AOD at no additional cost?
Thank you for your interest in viewing AOD, however AOD will be available to only Dynasty Pack customers on B.yond platform. To enjoy AOD, you may consider upgrading your subscription to Super Pack 3 that offers you a greater variety of content and value-added services such as HD and PVR.
3.3 I’m subscribing to Super Pack 3. Do I get a rebate / price reduction as AOD will hereafter be at no additional cost to Dynasty customers?
During the recent price revision in November 2013, the price of Super Pack 3 has been maintained as it was offset by the further discount offered for AOD Dragon Pack. Thus, the upgraded Dynasty Pack offering has no impact on Super Pack 3 customers.
While enjoying a greater variety of content and convenience that Super Pack 3 offers, such as the benefits of HD and PVR services, as well as free access to Astro On the Go, you still make great savings of up to RM52.90 every month.
3.4 I’m subscribing to a la carte Dragon Pack. How will this offering affect me?
The inclusion of AOD into Dynasty Pack will not affect your current subscription if you are already on B.yond platform.
3.5 I’m subscribing to a la carte Wah Lai Toi. Is there any chance that I get to watch AOD too?
AOD will be available to only Dynasty Pack customers on B.yond platform. If you are interested to watch AOD, you may consider subscribing to Dynasty Pack at RM81.95 that allows you to enjoy first run TVB dramas with a saving of RM39.95.
4.0 Commercials / advertisements on AOD
4.1 Which AOD channels come with ads?
There will be commercial slots in the current episode channels, ie Channel 350 in HD, 351 and 361 in SD.
4.2 How advertising will affect the current programming schedule?
There is no change to the current programme schedule. 1st and 2nd line dramas will still premiere at 8.30pm and 9.30pm respectively on first run channels.
4.3 Why are there commercials on AOD channels that previously do not have?
Astro has complied with its regulators guidelines for commercials and sponsorships, which allows us to broadcast 10 minutes of ads per hour. It is widely practiced worldwide that the pay TVs are taking in commercials on their platform, as a form of balancing the revenue and cost to the customers.
