- Q: Why is this Scholarship limited to media and broadcasting industry?
A: As industry leader, Astro is committed to raising the standards in areas such as sound Engineering, Scripting, Digital Imaging, Animation, Cinematography, Production, and even Acting. This can be achieved by either importing human capital or providing the opportunity for promising Malaysians to acquire the skill and knowledge overseas. Astro chooses the latter to give young promising Malaysians the opportunities to excel and contribute to this area. We also believe that Malaysians who understand our own culture, social setting, and language, given the skill and training, can contribute better in the area of film, art, and dramatic scene. Their work and output is expected to be more relevant and better appreciated by Malaysians. It is worth emphasizing that The Astro Scholarship is not limited to only this arena. Competencies such as Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Humanities and Mass Communications are valuable across multiple industries.
